No Stranger Than Love

Last night I watched No Stranger Than Love (2015). Wacky!

It was written by Steve Adams and directed by Nick Wernham.

This movie had a really slow start and indeed I nearly shut it off. It wasn't bad, exactly, it just wasn't my thing. But then about 15 minutes in, something happened and everything changed. After that, I LOVED IT.

It stars Alison Brie (Lucy) and Justin Chatwin (Rydell). I had never heard of either of these people, but I guess they're famous. In any case, I thought they were both charming and funny.

Rydell and Lucy

Lucy: It's a gash.

Rydell: A gash?

Lucy: Yes, a gash.

Rydell: Is it deep?

Lucy: No, not very. Your skull's right there.

Rydell: You can see my skull?!

I think my favorite part of this movie is that Lucy's car is a Chevy Chevette. This car was a piece of shit when it was new and that was at least 30 years earlier, but they act like it's completely normal for someone to be driving around in one in 2015. Like, they don't even mention it. Yes, Rydell's car is even older, but it's a Camaro. It's totally believable that somebody would be driving one of those. It's practically a classic. But nobody is preserving Chevettes. Where did they even get it?
