Washington Black

I just finished Washington Black (2018) by Esi Edugyan. Spectacular!

It's a bildungsroman about a boy born into slavery in Barbados in the early 19th century. Despite this seemingly hopeless beginning, he ends up leading a truly remarkable life. A pleasure to read.
