Lightning Talks
Yesterday, Max Bernstein and River Dillon Keefer wrote a blog post called Damas-Hindley-Milner inference two ways. Today, it seems like everyone is talking about it!
This, of course, makes me think of one of my all time favorite lightning talks, How to read 'Soft Typing' by John Cinnamond (BathRuby 2015).
And this has me pining for the days when lightning talks were fun! I used to go to a ton of conferences and lightning talks were often my favorite part. I think it peaked in 2017, when David Farrell talked about Cache::Reddit at YAPC::NA and Aaron Brooks talked about sordid-map at Clojure Conj. Two different lightning talks at two different conferences. Totally unrelated, but in sort of the same spirit— it's not enough just to have a stupid idea, you must also implement it!
I need more lightning talks in my life! I don't think I've been to one in like five years!
