Last night, I watched Fantastic Planet (1973). Wonderful!

It is in French, but it was made in Czechoslovakia.

It is based on the 1957 novel Oms en série by Stefan Wul.

The screenplay is by René Laloux and Roland Topor. René Laloux is the director and Roland Topor is the production designer.

It is called La Planète sauvage in French, Divoká planeta in Czech, and Divoká planéta in Slovak. These mean wild planet, but for some reason it is Fantastic Planet in English.

René Laloux made another movie based on a Stefan Wul novel. Les Maîtres du temps (1982) is based on L'Orphelin de Perdide (1958). It was designed by Mœbius. I'll have to look for it!
