Intermezzo

Last night I watched Intermezzo (1936). Beautiful!

It was written by Gustaf Molander and Gösta Ekman. It was directed by Molander and starred Ekman.

This movie is Swedish, but it was remade in English in 1939. Both versions starred Ingrid Bergman. Apparently, this was the breakout role that brought her to Hollywood.

Inga Tidblad knits some colorwork briefly. Well, she picks it up, has a troubled look on her face, and puts it back down again. We can see it's color work because there are several balls of yarn. I guess we can't tell if Tidblad was really a knitter.

I came across this old poster, which I really like because the line drawings of Inga Tidblad and Britt Hagman really look like them. It's kind of remarkable, given what simple drawings they are.
