Planet of the Apes

Last night I watched Planet of the Apes (1968). I loved this movie when I was a kid. I think I love it even more now!

It is based on the 1963 novel La planète des singes by Pierre Boulle. The first screenplay was written by Rod Serling, but it was reworked several times. The final movie says screenplay by Rod Serling and Michael Wilson.

In the movie, the astronauts have traveled far into the future. I wonder if anyone will be around to see what it's really like.

The movie had a number of sequels back in the 1970s (and also a television series). I can't decide if I want to re-watch one or more of them. The first one is perfect and the ending is so iconic!

Serling apparently wrote a sequel, but it was rejected. The sequels that were filmed are unrelated to his script. I would like to see what he had in mind!
