The Cabin at the End of the World

I just finished The Cabin at the End of the World (2018) by Paul Tremblay (read by Amy Landon). I wish it didn't have a spoiler on the front cover!

Sure, it's several years old and has already been made into a movie, but I've managed to not hear any spoilers despite that. Yet when I check the audiobook out of the library, it has a giant spoiler right on the front! Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, and the wee donkey.

I guess I'm more sensitive to spoilers than most people, but still. This was disappointing. I like stories and I find I enjoy a story more if I don't know anything about it before hearing it. I don't understand people who want to tell me what the story is about before telling me the story. Just tell me the fucking story!

And I admit that most people seem to want what I consider spoilers. Movie previews and book reviews that contain spoilers abound. And it's totally normal for a television series to end an episode with a preview of next week's episode. I am constantly jumping up for the remote to stop or mute the television before it can spoil things for me. Even though nearly every series does this, I am still surprised by it! Not suprised that they do it, but not ready for it. It doesn't help that I also like to watch things all the way to the end, including the credits.
